Take action!
To find out if an idea is good, you need to stop just thinking about it – and take action. Talk to people. Test it. Only then will you know if it’s got legs – and if you’re passionate enough about it to take it forward.
This week, we’ll hear how brilliant founders from across Scotland took their first steps to bring their ideas to life 💪

Featured speaker:
Pete and Joe Donald
Joe & Pete Donald are the football-mad founders of Triptix, a website that helps fans attend European matches affordably. The Edinburgh-based brothers got frustrated when they tried to travel abroad to watch a game in their early 20s. Inspired by their experience, they launched a free newsletter to share cheap flight and ticket deals for European matches. This has since evolved into a web app used by 80,000+ people. Joe and Pete’s innovative approach caught attention, winning them Scottish Edge awards in 2023 & 2025, and named as finalist for the UK Start-up of the Year Awards in 2024.
Supplementary videos:
Julie Wilson
Julie Wilson, founder of baby products brand Cheeky Chompers, had her lightbulb moment during maternity leave . Tired of constantly picking up teethers dropped by their dribbling babies, Julie and her fellow new-mom friend Amy Livingstone conceived and created the world’s first teething bib that stays put. This clever idea turned into a global brand, selling millions of products all over the world, and landing them a stint on Dragons’ Den.
Melanie Auld
Melanie Auld, founder of Spice Pots, discovered her passion for Indian cuisine during a trip to India at age 19. She continued perfecting her cooking and spice-blending skills back home in Scotland. After moving to the rural west coast and having three sons, she faced the challenge of cooking for a young family without convenient specialty stores nearby. As a shortcut for making curries, she created easy-to-use, pre-blended spice combinations. Spice Pots is now a successful online retailer and available in stores across the UK.

I’ve met so many incredible people doing incredible things here. I can’t wait for everyone to hear about them!
